Brief Description:

Experiential learning programs that illuminate scientific and ecological concepts that empower students to become environmental and community stewards throughout their lives!

Bring your students to our residential site or let our naturalists come to your school - either way, we'll take your students outside of the classroom for hands-on learning in nature's laboratory.  Whether visiting tide pools, studying insects at the pond, playing eco-games or cleaning up the neighborhood park, students learn about and experience their connections to the natural world.  By weaving a thread of choice and impact throughout our programs, we empower students to become active stewards of the environment within their own communities.   All of our programs are based on California State Science Standards and tailored to meet the individual needs of participating teachers and students.

Environmental Education Programs at YMCA Point Bonita

Outdoor Education Program
Join us in the Marin Headlands, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, for two to five day residential programs based at our historic campus!  During all-day hikes throughout the park and night programs hosted by our naturalists, students discover their connections to science, the natural world, and each other.  Come explore the spectacular California coast and its unique ecosystems through a field trip your students are certain to remember.

Coast Trek Program
A quick taste of our Outdoor Education program through one day hikes in the Marin Headlands.

Hands On Science & Service Learning
Supplement your classroom science lessons with real-world, outdoor science and service learning projects!  Day-trips to the Marin Headlands increase students' field observation and data collection skills as well as their understanding of how environmental changes affect our personal and planetary health.
