Brief Description:
For nearly 40 years Slide Ranch has used its organic farm and garden to infuse students and other group participants with a sense of place in the natural world, and to offer them a taste of farm-fresh produce, eggs and milk.
Slide Ranch serves groups ranging in age from nursery school to high school. We strive to reach participants from low-income, ethnically diverse and special needs populations, with half of these participants receiving scholarship subsidies, so the experience is available to youth who would not otherwise be able to participate.
Group Programs are hands-on weekday and overnight farm workshops primarily attended by school children and community groups in the spring and fall. Slide Ranch teachers lead program participants through a variety of educational themes and activities tailored to meet each group’s needs. For all ages.
Applications for Fall Group Programs are accepted until filled. Applications for Spring Group Programs are due October 1st
Founded in 1970, Slide Ranch is a non-profit teaching farm located at a historic coastal dairy perched above the ocean in the Marin Headlands within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA).
Slide Ranch staff operate the farm using a turn of the century farmhouse, old creamery and several outbuildings situated along a scenic coastal bluff. Organic gardens, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks, along with numerous coastal trails, tide-pools and pocket beaches, provide an ideal outdoor venue for teaching about healthy foods, healthy living and environmental awareness.
Slide Ranch uses food, which we eat every day, as the organizing theme to teach about our connection to the sun, soil, water, air and people who work to feed us.
