Brief Description:

The Conservatory offers three options for your field trip: 1) Adaptations! Plant Survivors is a guided tour offered to 3rd-5th grade classes. Volunteer Jungle Guides introduce students to the unique adaptation strategies plants have developed to survive in the tropical environment. 2) Exploring the New Guinea Highlands. The exhibit was collaboratively developed by Bay Area educators, the Enga Tradition and Transition Centre of the New Guinea Highlands, the California Academy of Sciences, the de Young Museum, and the Conservatory of Flowers. The resulting multimedia program includes a field guide, lesson plans, podcasts, video clips, web page (http://highlands.famsf.org), and exhibits. Through a self-guided visit, elementary school visitors experience first hand some of the natural, artistic, and cultural beauty of this amazing country. 3) K-12 teachers may schedule a self-guided visit to the Conservatory for their class.
