Brief Description:

In 1998, Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) created the award-winning Awareness for Communities about the Environment (ACE) program to help today’s students become tomorrow’s environmental leaders while lowering energy costs for area businesses. The ACE Program prepares youth with the skills and knowledge to excel in the growing green jobs sector while strengthening the relationships between businesses and area high schools and protecting the environment. Following a comprehensive training, students in the program conduct no-cost energy audits for local businesses, develop reports with recommendations for energy savings, and assist the businesses in accessing zero to low-cost energy efficiency retrofits. ACE creates an unparalleled forum for knowledge-sharing that leads to direct actions that benefit the economic and environmental health of communities.  Since its inception, ACE-trained students have worked in more than 500 senior facilities, small businesses, and residences to help reduce energy use and costs. In turn, students bring information and enthusiasm in to the community, sparking awareness and behavioral changes that help residents live more sustainably.
